A Chinese ship which departed China on January 25 for Croatia, carrying steel for the Peljesac Bridge, arrived on Monday and is anchored outside Ploce port and, after a health inspection of the crew was conducted, it was established that there are no indications of the coronavirus among them.

Local media has reported that the ship has a crew of 22 but does not include any Chinese workers who would remain in Croatia after unloading their freight.

Ploce port captain Josko Nikolic said that the ship had passed a customs check by border police and health inspectors and that later today the ship would head toward the Peljesac Bridge construction site.

The ship was cleared for free passage and its location to unload its freight has been determined. The ship will not approach the coastline. Health inspectors have issued a certificate of the ship’s safety in health terms, Nikolic said.

Before arriving in the Adriatic, the Chinese ship underwent a health inspection in Singapore and in the Suez Canal.
