Croatian airports in April this year handled only 4,482 passengers, which is a 99.4 percent drop compared to the same period of 2019. The drop was a result of flight cancellations and airport closures caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, figures from the state statistics bureau (DZS) showed.

There were only 420 flight operations in April, a drop of 95.4 percent compared to April 2019.

A total of 797 tonnes of cargo were handled, 27 percent less than in April 2019.

Zagreb Airport recorded nearly all of the passengers, 4,478, which is a 98.4 percent drop compared to the same month last year.

The other four passengers were recorded at the Brac and Osijek airports, while the other airports in the country did not report any passengers.

Most of the passengers recorded in April were from Germany and the United Kingdom.
