Air Serbia said on Wednesday that it had transported 2.8 million passengers in 2019, recording net profits of 9.5 million Euro.

Air Serbia also saw the biggest expansion of its network with 23 new destinations in 2019, the sixth year of its operation, a press release said and added the number of charter flights also rose by almost a quarter more than a year earlier with a record 2,286 flights by its charter line Aviolet.

The Serbian national air line said that the Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) indicator stood at 4.45 billion or 428 million more than a year earlier. It added that Air Serbia and Aviolet aircraft flew a total of 33,322 flights.

Air Serbia CEO Duncan Naysmith is quoted as saying that the coronavirus pandemic is the worst crisis ever to hit the airline industry. He said that the company is keeping track of the situation and has focused on gradually intensifying operations wherever possible.
