The European Commission on Friday approved an investment of 48 million euros from the Cohesion Fund for waste management project for Zadar and Lika-Senj Counties.

The project will help increase the amount of waste for recycling.

Reducing health risks and unpleasant odours from waste which has not been managed sufficiently will create better living conditions for the local population, the EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, said today.

The project includes eight cities and 33 municipalities which have a population of 195,000 residents.

The Commission expects the project to be completed by the summer of 2022.
