Bosnia and Herzegovina has offered rescue teams to help with search and rescue efforts in Croatia following a devastating earthquake, and the country's senior officials have extended condolences on those killed.

Two rescue teams with 42 members from the Federation entity and an 18-strong team from Republika Srpska are on stand-by awaiting the consent of the Croatian government for their deployment to the affected areas, the Security Ministry said.

All three members of the country’s collective presidency offered their condolences to President Zoran Milanovic, while the deputy chairman of the lower house of the state parliament, Denis Zvizdic, extended his sympathies to Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic.

The earthquake that devastated Petrinja, about 50km southeast of Zagreb, was also felt in Bosnia and Herzegovina and caused property damage in the northwestern towns of Bihac, Cazin, Velika Kladusa and Bosanska Dubica.
