Bosnia’s Quo Vadis, Aida? nominated for Best European Film

The film Quo Vadis, Aida? was nominated in four of the five most important categories of the European Film Academy, including the Best European Film, Deblokada production company said Tuesday.

The film Quo Vadis, Aida? was nominated for four of the five most important award categories of the European Film Academy: Best Film (director Jasmila Zbanic and producer Damir Ibrahimovic), Best Director (Jasmila Zbanic), Best Actress (Jasna Djuricic), and Best Screenwriter (Jasmila Zbanic).

The European Film Academy held a press conference in Seville at which they announced the nominations for the best accomplishments in European cinematography in 2020 and 2021. In addition, the film was also nominated for the European University Film Award (EUFA) which is voted on by students from European universities.

After its premiere at the 2020 Venice Film Festival, the film, which depicts events around the fall of Srebrenica to Bosnian Serb forces in the closing stages of the 1991-95 war, was nominated for an Academy Award as well as the British Film Academy’s BAFTA award. It won an Independent Spirit Award, and more than 30 awards at various film festivals around the world.
