A record high number of twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), roughly 315,000, will have been handled at the Brajdica Terminal in Rijeka until the end of 2021, which will be 4% more than in 2020, the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal reported on Thursday.
Transshipment of containers through Brajdica will be also higher than last year, said the company whose name in Croatian is “Jadranska Vrata”.
In 2020, Brajdica already earned the status of a medium-sized container terminal globally.
This year, November saw a record high number of TEUs in a month (30,176), and a record high number of containers were shipped by train.
The share of containers transported to or from the terminal by rail will be roughly 44% this year.
