The Croatian Central Bank (HNB) has issued gold and silver coins commemorating the Dalmatian dog, a recognisable breed in Croatia and the world, the central bank announced on Tuesday.
The coins were designed by sculptor Nikola Vudrag and manufactured by the Croatian Mint.
The HRK 1,000 gold coin, measuring 31.10 grams in weight and 32 millimetres in diameter, is issued in a circulation of no more than 999 pieces, while the HRK 50 gold coin (1.94 g and 15 mm) is issued in a circulation of up to 5,000 pieces. The HRK 10 silver coin (31.10 g and 38.61 mm) is issued in a circulation of up to 15,000 pieces.
The coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint and their expected initial price is HRK 13,000, without VAT, for the HRK 1,000 gold coin, HRK 900 for the HRK 50 gold coin and HRK 320 for the HRK 10 silver coin. The final selling prices depend on gold and silver prices on the open market, the HNB said.
