Bosnia and Herzegovina has recorded seven new coronavirus cases and no fatalities over the past 24 hours, which is the first day in months with no COVID-related deaths confirmed in the country, the healthcare authorities said on Monday.

The new results came from 788 lab tests performed on the samples of those who reported infection symptoms.

The Federation entity reported seven new cases out of 672 tests performed and no death, which is the third day straight in this part of the country with no COVID fatality reported. In the Republika Srpska entity, no new case was confirmed out of 78 tests performed, and no fatalities either. Brcko District reported no death over the past 24 hours and no new coronavirus cases out of 38 tests performed.

All regions in the country have significantly reduced the epidemic measures due to the improved situation with the virus spread.

But, because the country still lacks the vaccines to launch mass immunisation and relies only on either donated quantities or those delivered through the EU-funded programmes or COVAX platform, many citizens took to Serbia to use the opportunity of a free of charge immunisation that this country offered to the neighbouring states.

However, there is still no official data on how many Bosnian citizens have received the COVID vaccine outside the country.
