Finance Minister Zdravko Maric signed in Brussels on Monday an agreement on partnership between Croatia and the European Commission in organizing an information and communication campaign on the introduction of the euro.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the EC by the Executive Vice President of the European Commission for An Economy that Works for People, Valdis Dombrovskis, and Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni.
The document was signed on the fringes of a meeting of the euro area ministers of finance in inclusive format, which was also attended by Marić.
Croatia expects a decision on admission to the euro area in June 2022 and is expected to join on 1 January 2023.
The agreement signed today envisages coordination in information and communication efforts aimed at providing more information to the public in Croatia about the functioning of the monetary union and its currency, which is expected to contribute to a more simple transition to the common European currency.
Under the agreement, the EC will support a number of activities to be implemented as part of the communication strategy and secure up to 50% of the funds used to implement activities from the communication strategy.
