The State Prosecutor's Office (DORH) on Thursday would not comment on media reports that Chief State Prosecutor Zlata Hrvoj-Sipek has decided to relieve Vanja Marusic of her duties as director of the USKOK anti-corruption office.
DORH said it could not answer the questions from reporters given the investigation is still ongoing.
Several media outlets on Thursday quoted unofficial sources as saying that the USKOK director has been dismissed over a corruption case involving former minister Gabrijela Zalac. The case, known as the Software scandal, was eventually launched by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Croatia.
Justice Minister Ivan Malenica said on Tuesday he believed that the inspection of the USKOK director’s work by the Chief State Prosecutor would show whether there had been any omissions in the work of the Prosecutor’s Office.
