The Croatian National Council in Serbia (HNV) and Democartic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina (DSHV) on Wednesday called for solidarity and have started a collection fund to help earthquake-stricken Croatia under the motto "We know what help means."
“HNV and the Croatian community in Serbia have shown their solidarity with the people affected in the devastating earthquake in Croatia and extend their condolences to the families of those who died, with the hope that such tragedies will not happen again,” HNV president Jasna Vojnic said in a statement to the press.
She added that the two Croatian organisations in Serbia have decided to run a collection campaign to raise funds to help the affected areas with basic requirements.
Seeing that Croats in Serbia are very familiar with what it means to depend on others’ help, HNV president Jasna Vojnic and DSHV president Tomislav Zigmanov spoke with Sisak-Moslavina County prefect Ivan Zinic and with the president of the county assembly Ivanka Roksandic, sending words of support and solidarity, the press release said.
