The wildfire at Seget Gornji, inland from the southern coastal town of Trogir, which broke out on Monday morning, was caused by a spark from a power-transmission line, police said on Tuesday.
The fire has consumed around 800 hectares of underbrush and pine and olive trees. It was contained on Tuesday morning, but flared up again in the afternoon.
Firefighters have said that this fire is the most challenging operation so far this season as a strong wind and inaccessible terrain are hampering the efforts to put it out.
