Germany has added Croatia to its list of Covid-19 high-risk countries, which means that people who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid-19 will have to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival from Croatia, the Robert Koch Institute announced on Friday.
The decision comes into effect on Sunday.
Travelers arriving from high-risk countries will be allowed to end their self-isolation after five days if they present a negative test or a vaccination certificate.
As of 1 November, people who are unable to do their job because of self-isolation will no longer be entitled to compensation for the loss of earnings from the government. This regulation has already entered into force in some federal states, including North Rhine-Westphalia.
Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia have also been added to the list of high-risk countries.
The criteria for the inclusion of a country on the list are not just the number of new cases but also the rate of the virus spreading and the burden on the country’s healthcare system.
