Croatia's government on Thursday decided not to implement the usual motorway toll summer price hikes, for the second year in a row, state agency Hina reported.

The current motorway toll prices will therefore remain in force, in what Hina described as “a bid contribute to efforts to boost the business activity in the tourism and transport sectors.”

The state-owned motorway operator HAC was therefore ordered not to apply the scheduled 10 percent price hike which was meant to be in force from June 15 to September 14, during the summer tourist season, when large numbers of holidaymakers from Central European countries go on road trips to reach Croatia.

The decision not to hike prices will mean 77.5 million kuna (€10.3 million) in lost revenue, Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Oleg Butkovic, said.
