Science and Education Minister Radovan Fuchs told reporters on Thursday that students in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County will switch to online classes as of Monday as part of efforts to control the current epidemiological situation.
Today we have 241 positive students but we will switch to online classes anyway, Fuchs said, adding that this was a result of talks with local Covid-19 response teams.
This approach has proved to be very efficient because so far we have managed to hold 78% of total classes face-to-face, he said.
He admitted that only 20 percent of teachers in Sisak-Moslavina County had responded to the vaccination campaign, expressing hope that a new campaign would increase interest in vaccination in that group.
The ministry wants teachers and all other education workers to get vaccinated, but it cannot order anyone to do so, he said.
