Montenegrin MPs voted out the current government led by Zdravko Krivokapic on Friday night and will start consultations on a new cabinet on Saturday, just a year and a half after they won elections held in August 2020.

Deputies from the Democratic Front (DF), the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), and the Movement for Change (PzP) left the hall before voting started. Still, the remaining MPs had sufficient hands for voting out the Government.

URA’s movement deputy leader Milos Konatar said he would like Dritan Abazovic, URA’s leader, who served as a deputy Prime Minister, to be the new prime minister-designate.

The no-confidence motion was signed by 31 opposition deputies and the ‘Black and White’ coalition, which URA is a part of.

Krivokapic and most of the ministers did not attend the session. Abazovic left immediately after the session started.

On Thursday, the MPs failed to discuss Krivokapic’s motion for dissolving the Parliament after the deputies’ majority voted against it to be on the agenda.

Also, on Thursday, the deputies rejected to debate on Krivokapic’s initiative to dismiss Abazovic.

The ousted Government was formed by different political parties and movements to remove President Milo Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) after 30 years in power.
