N1 Slovenia news website will launch on Wednesday, the United Group's United Media announced on Sunday evening.
The investment is worth €1.3 million, according to the Slovenian state news agency STA.
“The website, at the n1info.si address, will develop as a professional, independent, and responsible media outlet, as have all other N1 websites,“ United Group said in a statement.
An experienced journalist and editor Katja Seruga will be N1 Slovenia’s editor-in-chief.
“N1’s arrival to Slovenia gives me hope that journalism in Slovenia will grow stronger. We will create detailed, informative reports, cover sports and other content which will be easily available at n1info.si. N1 stands for professional, trustworthy and – this is important – independent journalism,” Seruga said.
N1 is an example of building a reputation as a credible outlet by reporting accurate and objective information, without resorting to sensationalism and a tabloid approach, said United Media CEO, Aleksandra Subotic. “We are convinced that our crew in Slovenia will soon earn the people’s trust and become the readers’ main source of information.”
N1 was launched in Serbia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014. Headquartered in Luxembourg, the company has production centres and editorial teams in each country where it operates.
Every website works independently and creates the content for its national market, attracting between 1.2 and 2.2. million users a month each, the United Group said.
Sport Klub channel and the Cas Media agency also operate within the United Media in Slovenia.
The company’s portfolio includes 50 cable TV programmes, five national TVs, 27 websites, five radio stations, and seven print media, the company said.
