President Zoran Milanovic said on Tuesday that most people were going with the tide and getting vaccinated.
Asked about his opinion on the protests against Covid tests and wearing of face masks in hospitals, Milanovic said that he had expected that, however, the protests aren’t massive. He assessed that most people are “going with the tide” and then calculating.
Milanovic said that Scandinavian countries do not have a “police approach,” nor did they when there were fewer people who were vaccinated. He asked what is the point of wearing a face mask in premises where almost everyone is vaccinated. He said it is amazing how obedient people can be in situations when they should not be completely obedient.
Asked whether he advocated that Covid certificates be abolished, Milanovic said that from the very first day he did not want to analyse or criticise individual epidemiological measures, or rather “measures for daily politicking.”
Commenting on the latest replacements at the Zagreb Holding city utility company, he said that the City of Zagreb is being led under the burden that the new authorities took over a few months ago, underscoring that he has a huge tolerance in that respect.
Covid certificates are a ban
“After vaccines arrived, I said that once there were more doses of vaccines than people interested in getting vaccinated, these bans wouldn’t make any sense,” Milanovic said and added: “Covid certificates are a ban.”
