Slovenia on Saturday reported 1,523 new coronavirus cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, an increase from the previous day when 1,478 new cases and 23 deaths had been confirmed.
Parliamentary opposition parties have moved a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Janez Jansa over the poor epidemiological situation.
Jansa, who said the lockdown restrictions might stay in force until late spring or be further tightened, accused the opposition of destabilising the state by trying to topple his government and risking an early election at the height of the epidemic.
“This is a pathetic outpour of ideological hatred towards those who think differently and it would have been comical were it not coming in the middle of a grave epidemiological wave,” Jansa said on his Twitter account.
