The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Timur Eyvazov on Wednesday to express its strong opposition to Russia's unilateral moves against Ukraine.
Bogdan Batic, Deputy Political Director at the Ministry, conveyed Slovenia’s “resolute opposition” to Russian moves along the Ukrainian border, in particular the unilateral recognition of the breakaway Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
Slovenia said that this was a serious violation of international law and of the obligations Russia had assumed under a number of agreements, including the Minsk agreement.
The Slovenian Foreign Ministry expressed its strong opposition to the Russian moves already on Tuesday, and the Russian action was also condemned by President Borut Pahor and Prime Minister Janez Jansa. As a sign of support, Jansa has announced a visit to Kyiv on Thursday and Friday.
