The mobile network of United Group’s Bulgarian operator Vivacom has been named the fastest in Europe for the second time in a row by Ookla, the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications and technology.

The results are based on analysis of more than 54,000 tests from almost 17,000 unique Vivacom customers made with Ookla’s Speedtest® application in Bulgaria in the second half of 2020.

“We’re very proud with this award. It is an independent evaluation of the great work we’ve done developing Vivacom’s mobile network. This is particularly relevant now as the pandemic made 2020 such a challenging year and one in which consumers were particularly reliant on mobile communications,” said Vivacom CEO Atanas Dobrev.

“We have worked very hard to offer our customers high quality services and more options for communication, work and entertainment during this difficult period. This award recognizes those efforts and is proof of a job well done,” he said.

In September 2020, Ookla also named Vivacom’s mobile network the fastest mobile network in Europe for Q1-Q2 2020.

Viviacom became part of Dutch-based United Group, the leading telecommunications and media operator in Southeast Europe, in July 2020. United Group has the widest network coverage in Southeast Europe. The company is active in eight countries, and had approximately 10 million users and 11 thousand employees and the end of last year.
