Zagreb has been ranked third by users of the global online accommodation booking platforms Booking.com, Airbnb and Tripadvisor among 20 European capitals with the cleanest tourist accommodation, the City of Zagreb Tourism Board (TZGZ) said on Friday, citing a recent survey.

In some of their reviews, users of these platforms described accommodation in the Croatian capital as “sparkling clean” and “immaculately clean”.

The survey, published by the British website ShowersToYou.co.uk, was prompted by increased concerns about travel hygiene in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Zagreb was ranked third with an average of 4.74 stars, behind Lisbon with 4.79 stars and Prague with 4.74 stars. Users of Booking.com and Airbnb ranked Zagreb first, ahead of Moscow and Lisbon, while Tripadvisor users ranked it 14th.

“We were delighted to see this survey and are very pleased with the excellent result we achieved. I congratulate providers of accommodation services in Zagreb,” TZGZ director Martina Bienenfeld said.
