Volume of construction in April up 3.6 pct year-on-year

The volume of construction works in April 2018 was 3.6 percent up from the same month the year before, and 1.7 percent up from March, the state statistic bureau said on Tuesday.

In terms of type of work, the volume of works on buildings went up 11.3 percent year-on-year, while works on other types of structures dropped by 6.3 percent. The latter group included all construction work on structures such as roads, railroads, bridges, dams, etc.

In April this year 57.1 percent of all working hours in construction sites was done on newly built projects, with the remaining 42.9 percent spent on reconstruction, repairs, and maintenance.

Over the first four months of 2018 the activities in construction increased by 3.4 percent compared to the same four-month period the year before. Works on buildings were up by 10.9 percent, while the volume of works on other types of structures grew by 6.8 percent in the same period.
