In the last 24 hours 1,270 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Croatia, and 57 persons have died, the national Covid-19 crisis management team said on Monday.

This is a 12 percent drop from last Monday, on January 31, when local authorities reported 1,445 new cases.

Currently there are 44,578 active cases in the country, with 21,314 persons in self-isolation.  There are 2,191 Covid patients in hospital care, including 178 placed on ventilators.

Croatia has registered 985,050 coronavirus cases and 14,194 deaths to date. Also, 56.64 percent of the population has been vaccinated, that is, 67.39 percent of adults, of whom 65 percent have been fully immunized. Croatia is speculated to have a population of 4.1 million.

These figures are taken from the official daily report, which does not include thousands of new cases identified via quick antigen tests and which are neither counted by the national coronavirus task force nor reported to the WHO. These are recorded in a separate registry leaked daily to the local media, who go on to publish them as “unofficial figures” every morning, attributed to unidentified sources.
