Croatia has registered 8,094 new coronavirus cases and 46 deaths in the last 24 hours, with the total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic in the country crossing the threshold of 14,000, the country's Covid task force reported on Friday.
According to the data provided by the national coronavirus response team, 2,126 people are currently treated in hospitals, including 185 placed on ventilators. With the 46 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, the total coronavirus death toll has climbed to 14,035. The number of active cases now stands at 57,686 and 27,656 people are self-isolating.
Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 971,464 people have been registered as having contracted the novel virus after 4,301,921 tests carried out. As of Thursday, 56.6 percent of the total population of around 4 million, or 67.3 percent of the adult population, have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, while 64.9 percent received two doses.
All of these figures are taken from official daily reports which do not include thousands of new cases identified via quick antigen tests and which are not counted by the national coronavirus task force. These are recorded in a separate registry leaked daily to the local media, who go on to publish them as “unofficial figures” every morning, attributed to unidentified sources.
