Split Mayor Ivica Puljak confirmed on Tuesday that the police and Uskok anti-corruption office were investigating the city's administration and that he would do everything in his power for any possible cases of corruption to be resolved.
Twelve people were arrested in Split on Tuesday, including three members of the city administration, on suspicion of illegally issuing construction permits for development properties in the prized seaside districts of Znjan and Meje in Split.
Puljak, who came into power following the local elections in May, told a press conference that city authorities would do everything in their power to cooperate with the police and Uskok, and would provide all the documents relevant to the investigation.
After the twelve suspects get interviewed by Uskok, they will face an investigating judge at Split County Court who will decide on whether they will be remanded in investigative custody.
