The Supreme Court has confirmed the acquittal of former Prime Minister and HDZ party leader Ivo Sanader and businessman Robert Jezic in the HEP-Dioki case.

The court said that the statute of limitations had expired for a part of the indictment. As for the rest of the indictment, it upheld the first-instance acquittal.

Sanader and Jezic were acquitted by Zagreb County Court on 22 October 2018 of the charges of having sold cheap electricity to Jezic’s Dioki company at the expense of the state-owned HEP power utility.

Also accused in the case was former HEP director Ivan Mravak, who has died in the meantime.
