U2’s Bono Vox arrived in Sarajevo Sunday as part of the 27th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), as his guest of honour. He will later walk the special Red Carpet with director Wim Wenders.
The photo of this famous musician was posted by Mirsad Purivatra, director of the SFF on Instagram.
On it, Bono is in the company of Wenders at the Sarajevo National Theater, where a screening of the restored version of his film “Million Dollar Hotel” will be held in the afternoon.
Wim Wenders, the famous director, is the winner of the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at this year’s edition of the festival.
Bono remained in the special memory of the people of Sarajevo after he held a big concert with his band U2, on September 23, 1997.
Given that it was the post-war years, the Irish band played in a war-torn city.
“In my mind, the 1997 concert in this city, at that moment, meant more to me than I can say in two sentences. It’s a big part of our band’s life and a small part of your city and state’s life,” Bono said on the red carpet.
Vox expressed satisfaction that, after a long time, he was back in Sarajevo and pointed out that the Sarajevo Film Festival is the best festival.
“It is really great to be here. Feels like a long time and yet so short time. It’s like there is two Sarajevos. The real and the magic. The one that you live and work on versus the other one that you take with you wherever you go in the world – this mythic Sarajevo. This place is full of fun, magic, and also this is still to me the capital of coexistence. This great city and this great Festival. I think that the Festival is almost like a connecting tissue between these two Sarajevos – the invisible and visible it interfaces between,” he added
“When I think of this city, innovative and noisy, I would like people to come here and experience everything in this city. Including rebellion, and not just the serious side that people emphasize,” Vox told BHRT.
Bono Vox has repeatedly confirmed that he is a true friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he was also awarded an honorary passport of BiH.
