In the past 24 hours, Slovenia has registered 1,008 new cases of coronavirus. The numbers have been increasing for eight days now, with a high percentage of positive cases among those tested, the country's authorities reported on Monday.
In the past 24 hours, of the 2,282 tests conducted for coronavirus, 1,008 have turned out to be positive, which is 44.2 percent of those tested, Slovenia’s National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ) has reported.
The epidemiological situation has been deteriorating for eight days in a row.
Seven days ago there were 698 new cases of the contagion with a 37.8 percent share of positive cases among those tested. The last time more than 1,000 cases were registered in one day was at the end of November.
There are currently 18,386 active cases of this infectious disease in the country and the seven-day average of new cases a day is 1,526 while the 14-day incidence rate has increased to 868 cases.
The situation in hospitals has not deteriorated significantly.
Currently, there are 533 hospitalised COVID patients and 171 of them are in intensive care units.
Another three people have died as a consequences of the virus, raising the death toll to 5,603, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.
