Slovenia has confirmed 1,308 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours and three people have died as a consequence while the number of patients in ICU has once again exceeded 100, after quite some time.

With 5,728 tests conducted in the past 24 hours 1,308 tests came back positive, which is  23% rate, and there are currently 13,645 active cases in the country, the national public health institute reported on Tuesday.

There are 378 hospitalised Covid patients or 14 more than yesterday and 102 are in intensive care.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population has increased to 644, while 46.1% of the population has received both doses of a vaccine or 54.8% of the adult population.

Even though ramping up measures related to Covid certificates and mandatory inoculation for public servants had come across resistance, they have nevertheless accelerated the number of people getting vaccinated.

Janze Jansa’s government insists on restrictive measures to try and curb the spread of the contagion and vaccination mandate could be expanded to a broader spectrum of the population.

According to an article carried by the Siol.si news portal, based on information from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), only Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria have a lower vaccination rate than Slovenia.
