In the last 24 hours 3,568 coronavirus cases have been registered in Slovenia, more than 1,000 less than on Wednesday, but the Covid-19 situation remains very difficult, with 920 people in hospital.

The National Public Health Institute said on Thursday 39.3 percent of the tests over the last 24 hours came back positive.

There are 208 Covid patients in intensive care and nine Covid patients have died over the last 24 hours.

There are 39,970 active cases, the daily average of new cases over the past week has ben 3,205 while the 14-day incidence is 1,895.5.

To date 53.5% of the population has been fully vaccinated.

Although Slovenia is in touch with several countries about the possibility of sending its Covid patients abroad if its hospitals, notably intensive care units, will not be able to admit new ones, it has not officially requested such assistance.
