In the last 24 hours 4,481 coronavirus cases have been registered in Slovenia, the most since last month's 4,515, as well as 20 deaths, the National Public Health Institute said on Wednesday, adding that 42.4% of the 10,571 tests came back positive.
There are 39,011 active cases, including 889 hospitalised patients, 15 more than on Tuesday, of whom 191 in intensive care.
The 20 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours was the highest number since 2 February, when there were 23.
Over the past seven days, the average number of daily cases rose to 2,780 and the 14-day incidence is 1,671.
The state secretary at the Health Ministry, Franc Vindisar, called the situation alarming and said hospitals were at breaking point due to Covid patients.
