In the last 24 hours, there have been 282 new cases of infection with coronavirus in Slovenia, and one more death, while the number of hospitalisations exceeds 300, which is why the country will introduce stricter anti-epidemic rules on Wednesday.
Currently, 312 COVID-19 patients are receiving hospital treatment in Slovenia, and 74 of them are in intensive care units, government spokeswoman Maja Bratusa told a news conference in Ljubljana.
The government said in a Twitter post that the youngest hospitalised patient is a 24-year-old person and the youngest patient on a ventilator is 28 years old.
Slovenia now has 9,791 active cases of the disease.
The government’s data show that 44% of the total population have got vaccinated, or 53% of the adult population above 18.
As of Wednesday, public sector employees and users will be obliged to have COVID-19 certificates. Wearing masks will be mandatory indoors as well as outdoors if social distancing is not possible.
