As part of the "Make a Wish" programme, Labour Minister, Josip Aladrovic, handed over in Sibenik on Monday nine contracts worth 12.5 million kuna (€1.7 million) which will "enable the employment of hard-to-employ women and women caring for the elderly in Sibenik-Knin County," state agency Hina reported.

“Through the ‘Make a Wish’ project we had previously financed over 500 such jobs in Sibenik-Knin County, and about 3,000 elderly persons received care in this way,” said Minister Aladrovic, stressing that this is an investment in jobs and social inclusion.

He added that he was in Sibenik because of the signing of the contracts but also to give support to HDZ candidates Goran Pauk and Zeljko Buric in the second round of elections for Sibenik-Knin County prefect and Sibenik mayor.

Prefect Goran Pauk praised the “Make a Wish” programme for the employment of women, noting that the projects, which have brought about 110 million kuna (€14.6 million) to the county, mean a lot to the local population, especially in rural areas.

The incumbent mayor of Sibenik, Zeljko Buric, announced the opening of a new building for the Social Welfare Centre in Sibenik.
