Over the past 24 hours Slovenia recorded 388 new coronavirus cases and five more deaths. The country's weekly average has now dropped to 287 cases per week, meaning that Slovenia has now entered the so-called "green phase" which should bring a long-awaited end to almost all restrictions next week.
The government’s vaccination coordinator, Jelko Kacin, announced that the government would wait until next week before current restrictions get eased, Croatian state agency Hina reported.
“It is true that we are in the green phase, however, epidemiologists’ recommendations regarding the easing of restrictions are conservative and we should wait until next week,” said Kacin.
He announced that an earlier decision to allow audiences at sports events might be reviewed, considering that a sports event held last week had shown that that it was difficult to control sport fans’ behavior, Hina reported, without explaining what event Kacin was referring to.
There are currently 5,033 active coronavirus cases in Slovenia, including 277 patients in hospital care, 18 fewer than the day before.
