The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) on Thursday upgraded the coronavirus risk level of Croatia's coastline from red to orange, after the Covid-19 incidence rate in those areas had dropped to less than 50 new cases per 100,000 people over the last 14 days.

These maps are published by ECDC every Thursday and are part of the EU’s coordinated travel regime during the pandemic.

The Adriatic coast of Croatia is now in now marked orange. The criteria for orange areas are either when 14-day caseload drops below 50 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people, with test positivity rate of 4 percent or higher, or if the 14-day notification rate is between 25 and 150 cases per 100,000 and the test positivity rate is under 4 percent, state agency Hina reported on Thursday.

Hina did not clarify which of these criteria were met in coastal areas of Croatia, but said that the country’s continental part is still in the red. According to ECDC, Croatia’s total 14-day incidence rate is 139.84 per 100,000 people.

The red label is given if the 14-day cumulative Covid-19 case caseload ranges from 50 to 150, and the test positivity rate is 4 percent or more, or if the 14-day cumulative caseload is more than 150, but less than 500.

Most of Spain, France, the whole of Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands, Baltic countries, Slovenia, northern Norway, and large parts of Greece are still marked as red on the ECDC map.

The best, green, label is given if the 14-day caseload is lower than 25 cases per 100,000 and the test positivity rate is under 4 percent. On the latest map, green areas include Iceland, almost all of Finland, Malta, some parts of Romania, Poland, and Italy.

The maps are based on data reported by EU countries to the European Surveillance System database every Tuesday.
