In the past 24 hours, Slovenia registered 43 new coronavirus cases without any new fatalities. However, despite the improved epidemiological situation, the government is concerned at the poor turnout for vaccination.

There are currently 80 hospitalized Covid patients and the daily average of new cases in the past week has fallen to 54, the government tweeted.

Experts, however, have warned that the target of having 60% of the adult population inoculated by the middle of the year won’t be reached and that the emergence of new variants of the virus are cause for concern.

According to the government’s data released on Thursday, 798,984 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine, which is 46.3% of the adult population, and 607,763 or 35.2% have received both doses.
