North Macedonian Parliament Sobranie elected by a majority vote the new Government led by Social-Democrat Zoran Zaev, who headed the cabinet before the early elections on July 15 after resigning over the European Union's reluctancy to set a date for the start of the accession talks with Skopje.

The new coalition Government consist of Zaev’s Social-Democrats and the Albanian DUI party.

Sixty-two MPS voted in favour, while 51 ultra-nationalist VMRO DPMNE deputies were against.

Zaev said his team would be committed to the strengthening of the country’s economy, fighting against crime and corruption, adding North Macedonia should have an efficient European legal system.

His cabinet consists of 19 ministries, seven less than in the previous Government.

For the first time, an Albanian is a Deputy Prime Minister and the other heads Foreign Ministry.
