Croatia insists on EU enlargement based on consistent compliance with requirements, structural reforms and measurable results, which applies to all membership aspirants, including Serbia, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry was responding to an ad which Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban put in the Croatian daily Večernji List to present his vision of Europe. The Hungarian government published seven proposals for the EU’s future, underlining that it is against a European superstate and that Serbia should be admitted to the EU.

“Regarding Europe’s future, we don’t share the simplified views presented in advertisements. Our ideas and pursuits regarding the European Union are known and strive towards stronger inclusion, connectivity and synergy within the European family,” the ministry said.

“As for the EU enlargement process, Croatia insists on enlargement based on consistent compliance with membership criteria, implementation of necessary reforms and achieving measurable results. That applies to all membership aspirants, including Serbia,” the ministry added.
