The video content titled "General becomes a legend today" was removed Wednesday from the official Facebook account of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity ruling party - the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), in which the party leader, Milorad Dodik, talks about the life sentence imposed on former Bosnian Serb army general Ratko Mladic.
“We will never be afraid to tell the truth publicly about all the topics that are important to the Serb people,” the SNSD wrote, adding:
“This represents yet another blow to the truth and the right of our people to publicly express their opinion because the video itself expresses the views of the party president Milorad Dodik, which is shared by the majority of the Serb people.”
“At the time of the removal, the video was seen by over 700,000 Facebook users, and more than 2,000 people commented on it. The removal of this video also removed the views of those people, who were thus denied the right to express their opinions,” the reaction reads.
Recently, Twitter removed the post of Gorica Dodik, the daughter of Milorad Dodik who is also the Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, in which she supported the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic.
UN tribunal judges upheld the first-instance verdict, recently, sentencing former Republika Srpska Army commander Ratko Mladic to life in prison for genocide in Srebrenica, persecution, crimes against humanity, extermination and other war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995.
