In the past 24 hours 1,783 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia, its government said on Friday.
In that period 5,189 PCR tests have been done as well as 7,263 rapid antigen tests, with 420 coming back positive.
The situation in hospitals is stabilising, with a smaller increase in patients. Currently 1,189 are hospitalised in COVID wards and 209 in intensive care.
According to the Health Ministry, 25 COVID patients have died in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally up to 2,479.
The first 9,750 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine are expected to arrive in Slovenia on Saturday. According to the government’s announcements, the first to be vaccinated on Sunday will be everyone in care homes who has not been infected yet.
A temporary relaxation of restrictions ends at 8 p.m. today, including the socialising of two families with six adults in total as well as crossing municipal and regional lines. After that, all previous restrictions go back into force, with all shops closed until the New Year, except those for the basic necessities and food.
