In June 2021, year-on-year inflation as measured by consumer prices was 2 percent, "a mild slowing down" from the previous two months when it had been 2.1 percent, state agency Hina reported on Friday, citing the state statistics bureau.

By sector, the main generator of higher prices was transport, “which accounts for 13.3 percent of the consumer basket, and which increased 9 percent in June,” Hina said.

Next are the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which went up 5.8 percent year-on-year, followed by “recreation and culture” (1.5 percent), and housing, water, electricity, gas and “other fuels”, by 0.3 percent.

In June 2021, as compared to May 2021, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, remained at the same level, on average.

Over the first six months of 2021 as a whole, consumer prices went up 1.2 percent compared with the same period in 2020.
