Croatia exported 143.4 billion kuna worth of goods in 2021, up 27.9% on the year, while importing 212.5 billion kuna worth, up 23.2%, the state statistics bureau (DZS) reported on Tuesday.
The foreign trade deficit amounted to 69.1 billion kuna, increasing by 9.5 billion kuna year-on-year. Coverage of imports by exports was 67.5%.
99.2 billion kuna worth of goods was exported to EU member states, up 30.1% compared with 2020, while imports from those countries increased by 19.1% to 162.4 billion kuna.
Exports to non-EU countries increased by 23.1% to 44.2 billion kuna while imports from those countries increased by 38.9% to 50.1 billion kuna.
Expressed in euro, Croatia’s commodity exports in 2021 totalled €19.05 billion, up 27.9% on the year, while imports increased by 23.2% to €28.2 billion. The foreign trade deficit was €9.2 billion.
Commodity exports to EU member states totalled €13.2 billion, up 30.1% from 2020, while imports increased by 19% to €21.6 billion.
Exports to non-EU countries rose by 23.1% to €5.9 billion and imports from those countries went up by 38.8% to €6.7 billion.
Exports in first eleven months up by 26.8%, imports by 23.2%
In the first eleven months of 2021, exports amounted to 129.3 billion kuna, which is 26.8% more than in the same period of 2020, while imports increased by 23.2% to 193.7 billion kuna.
The foreign trade deficit was 64.4 billion kuna, while coverage of imports by exports was 66.8%.
Expressed in euro, commodity exports in the first eleven months increased by 26.8% to €17.2 billion. At the same time, imports grew by 23.2% to €25.7 billion. The foreign trade deficit totalled €8.5 billion.
