Fortenova offering €36 per share to take over Mercator

The Fortenova Group has gone public with its Mercator takeover bid, offering €36 per share and payment in cash, Slovenian media said on Wednesday.

Since the second half of April, Fortenova has 88.1% in the Slovenian retail chain. In today's issue of Delo daily, it published its bid for the takeover of the remaining 724,764 Mercator shares.

The offer of €36 per share is €3 higher than the price at which Mercator shares traded on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange last Friday.

If the remaining shareholders accept the offer, Fortenova should pay €26 million to take over Mercator.

The offer stands until 23 June.
