The average asking price of new apartments in Croatia in 2021 was 13,713 kuna (€1,800) per square meter, or 7.8 percent up from 2020, state agency Hina said on Thursday, citing a report from the state statistics bureau.
In the capital Zagreb the average price of a new flat was 14,672 kuna (€1,940) per square meter, or 4.7 percent more than in 2020. In other cities around the country, the average asking price was 12,577 (€1,660), or 12.3 percent up from 2020.
The average price of apartments built for the government’s subsidized housing scheme was 7,642 (€1,010) or 0.8 percent down from 2020. In Zagreb, subsidizes housing became more expensive, reaching 7,689 kuna (€1,017) per square meter, up by 2.3 percent from 2020, while in other cities the prices dropped by 7.2 percent to 7,472 kuna (€988) per square meter, or 7.2 percent down.
In 2021 a total of 4,678 new flats were sold on the market, of which 2,594 in Zagreb and 2,084 in other cities, meaning that Zagreb accounts for more than a half of the entire market.
In the latter half of 2021, the average price of a new flat in Croatia was 14,038 (€1,856) per square meter, or 11 percent more from the same period of 2020.
