The prosecutorial authorities in the eastern Croatian town of Slavonski Brod said on Tuesday they would indict a 52-year-old Kosovo national for causing a traffic accident in July 2021 in which ten people were killed.

The accident occurred at 6.20 am on July 25, 2021 when a Kosovo-registered bus with 69 people on board swerved off the road and overturned, killing 10 passengers and seriously injuring 11.

The bus was on the way from Germany to Kosovo and the accident happened on the motorway near Slavonski Brod.

The prosecutors believe that the driver turned around, as he was driving, to look at the back section of the bus from where he heard noise coming, failing to notice on time that the bus had crossed into the emergency lane until the vehicle hit a signpost. At that point, he started turning the steering wheel to the left and braking, which caused the vehicle to overturn.
