Bulgaria will continue advocating a European perspective for the Western Balkans, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said in separate meetings with his Serbian and Montenegrin counterparts, the Beta news agency reported from the Startup Europe Summit 2018 on Thursday.

A Bulgarian government press release quoted Borisov as saying that the European project will not be complete without the countries of the Western Balkans. Their progress towards membership in the European Union will depend on the the political will of their leaders, he said.

Borisov told Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic that a normalization of Serbia-Kosovo relations is the most important thing for the stability and security of the region and urged Belgrade and Pristina to continue their EU-mediated dialogue.

He told Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic that Montenegro is continuing to set a good example and is a regional leader on the road to the EU.

The press release said that the three prime ministers also discussed energy links and infrastructure projects.
