Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was doused with ink by an opposition MP during a session of parliament on Thursday.

The session was stopped after MP Edi Paloka stood up and sprayed ink on the prime minister.

Parliament was debating the accession of the neighbouring North Macedonia to NATO.

The incident took place after Lulzim Basha, leader of the largest opposition Democratic Party, fiercely criticized the ruling party for corruption. Basha was rebuked by Rama, causing Paloka to stand up and spray him with ink.

The Albanian opposition is planing a protest on Sunday to demand the forming of a transitional government and election next June.
