The head of the European Union Delegation in Serbia Sem Fabrizi and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic agreed on Tuesday that Belgrade should put more effort into the rule of law reforms, the Beta news agency carried a statement from Vucic’s office.

The two discussed the latest European Commission report on Serbia’s progress toward the EU which noticed problems in that area.

The meeting came hours after the French President Emmanuel Macron’s two-day visit to Belgrade ended with him reiterating the conditions for the EU enlargement and saying a solution between Belgrade and Pristina might be reached in several months.

Vucic said a new meeting of the two sides is scheduled for September.

The statement from Vucic’s office quoted Fabrizi as saying that the EU Delegation would continue to support Serbia’s European integration and to mediate the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations which should lead to a comprehensive agreement.

"Serbia must continue its European path and that’s why we need the bloc’s support in implementing reforms. It’s necessary to intensify the work on meeting the European agenda so we could speed up our road to the EU membership,” Vucic said.
